Remi Tinubu Leads Governors, First Ladies, Others to Ogun for Food Bank Programme Launch
Oluremi Tinubu will lead dignitaries to Ogun State for the zonal launch of a community food bank programme.
Governors from across Nigeria, First Ladies and other dignitaries are expected to converge on Ogun State on Tuesday for the zonal launch of the National Community Food Bank Programme.
The programme, which will take place in Makun, Sagamu, will feature the distribution of food items to vulnerable and indigent residents as part of efforts to strengthen social intervention programmes and support households facing hardship.
First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is expected to lead the distribution exercise and other activities scheduled as part of the visit.
According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, the First Lady will also commission the 108-unit Muhammadu Buhari Estate in Kobape, Abeokuta.
Another major event on her itinerary is the commissioning of the Gateway Medical Centre of Excellence in Abeokuta.
The 250-bed ultra-modern hospital is designed to provide advanced healthcare services to residents of Ogun State and neighbouring communities.
The facility is expected to expand access to specialised medical services while reducing the need for residents to travel outside the state for certain forms of treatment.
During the visit, Tinubu will also engage with major stakeholders at the June 12 Cultural Centre in Kuto, Abeokuta.
The engagement is expected to bring together government officials, community representatives and other stakeholders to discuss issues relating to social welfare and development.
The zonal food bank programme is part of broader efforts by the Federal Government to provide assistance to vulnerable Nigerians through targeted social intervention initiatives.
The distribution of food items in Ogun is expected to provide immediate support to residents identified as vulnerable or indigent.
The First Lady’s visit is also expected to deepen cooperation between the Federal Government and Ogun State Government in key areas, including social welfare, housing and healthcare delivery.
The commissioning of the housing estate and medical centre alongside the food bank launch will highlight the state’s ongoing efforts to expand social infrastructure and improve living conditions.
The activities are expected to reinforce the commitment of both levels of government to improving the quality of life of Nigerians through social support, housing provision and improved access to healthcare.
