OsunDecides2026: Ex-Minister Decries Slow BVAS Performance

Former Minister of State for Police Affairs, Jelili Adesiyan, has expressed concern over the slow performance of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) during the Osun governorship election.

Adesiyan spoke after voting at Unit 8, Ward 6, Lagere Idiose, Ode Omu, where he said the accreditation process was taking too long because of the slow performance of the BVAS machines.

He said nearly 1,000 voters were registered at the polling unit, with most of them still waiting in the queue. As of after 2pm, he said, fewer than 200 people had reportedly voted.

The former minister also noted that some elderly voters were having difficulty being captured by the BVAS.

Adesiyan called for an additional BVAS machine at the polling unit to speed up the process, while expressing confidence that all registered voters in the queue would eventually be allowed to vote.

He nevertheless described the exercise at the polling unit as peaceful, saying there had been no major problems apart from the slow accreditation process.
