OsunDecides2026: Armed Security Operatives, 10 Hilux Vehicles Block Assembly Speaker’s Residence
The Imole Campaign Council has raised concerns over reports that armed security operatives in more than 10 Hilux vehicles surrounded Osun Assembly Speaker Adewale Egbedun’s residence on election day, allegedly restricting movement, and has demanded an explanation from security authorities. The purpose of the deployment had not been independently confirmed.
The Imole Campaign Council has raised a security alert over the reported deployment of armed security operatives to the residence of the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, on election day.
According to the campaign council, the operatives arrived in more than 10 black Hilux vehicles and surrounded the Speaker’s residence in Osun State.
The council claimed that the residence had effectively been sealed off, with people inside reportedly prevented from leaving the premises. However, it stressed that it had not independently established the reason for the security deployment.
The spokesperson of the Imole Campaign Council, Pelumi Olajengbesi, called on the relevant security authorities to immediately explain whether the deployment was for routine security duties or another purpose.
The campaign council said it attempted to contact the Commissioner of Police responsible for the election, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police overseeing the election and the Police Situation Room, but said its calls were either unanswered or the listed number was switched off.
TICC expressed concern that the reported incident occurred on the day Osun residents were voting in the governorship election, saying voters should be able to participate without fear or intimidation.
The council appealed to security agencies to clarify the situation and urged political actors and residents to remain calm and law-abiding while awaiting an official explanation.
