Osun State Governor and Accord governorship candidate, Ademola Adeleke, has expressed confidence in winning Saturday’s governorship election, urging voters to protect their ballots throughout the electoral process.

Adeleke spoke shortly after casting his vote at Sagba Abogunde Ward 2, Unit 9, in Ede North Local Government Area. He arrived at the polling unit at about 8:32am, was accredited shortly afterwards and then cast his ballot.

The governor urged residents to turn out in large numbers, exercise their franchise peacefully and remain at their polling units to monitor the process in line with INEC guidelines.

He also alleged that he had received information about plans by a police officer to disrupt the election in Ede and appealed to the Inspector-General of Police to remove the officer from the state.

Adeleke further alleged that some of his supporters were being scared away by police officers in Modakeke and other parts of the state, describing such actions as attempts to disenfranchise voters.

He also warned voters to be vigilant against fake ballot papers allegedly being circulated to deceive voters at some polling units.

Despite the allegations, Adeleke expressed optimism that the election would remain peaceful, credible and reflective of the will of Osun voters.
