OsunDecides2026: 3,556 Polling Units Opened by 8:30am — INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said 3,556 of the 3,763 polling units in Osun State had opened for voting by 8:30am on Saturday.

The figure represents about 94.5 per cent of all polling units in the state.

INEC disclosed the update as voting commenced in the Osun governorship election, with voters arriving at polling units across the state to participate in the exercise.

The commission’s update indicates that 207 polling units had not yet opened by 8:30am, highlighting some delays in the deployment of election officials and materials.

The election is being conducted across the state’s 30 local government areas, with security personnel deployed to maintain order and protect voters.

The early opening of most polling units comes amid heightened attention on the conduct of the election, with political parties, observers and voters monitoring the accreditation, voting and subsequent counting processes.
