Osun Poll: INEC Adds SDP’s Gov Candidate Ajala to Ballot
INEC has added SDP governorship candidate Francis Ajala and his running mate, Faseke Oladipo, to the Osun election ballot following a Federal High Court order.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has added the Social Democratic Party’s governorship candidate, Dr Francis Ajala, and his running mate, Faseke Oladipo, to the ballot for the Osun State governorship election.
INEC said the decision followed a Federal High Court judgment delivered in Abuja on July 22, 2026, in a suit involving the SDP, Ajala and the electoral commission. The court ordered INEC to recognise, accept, process and publish Ajala’s name and particulars as the SDP candidate.
The development comes just days before the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
The court ruling followed a dispute over the SDP’s governorship candidacy. INEC’s latest action means Ajala and his running mate will now appear on the ballot for Saturday’s poll.
The addition further changes the field of candidates competing in the Osun election, which has already been marked by legal and political disputes over candidate nominations.
