Osun People Are Ready for Change, Oyebamiji Dismisses Adeleke’s Popularity

The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, has expressed confidence in defeating Governor Ademola Adeleke in the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

Oyebamiji dismissed claims that his campaign was relying on federal support, insisting that his strength came from Osun residents and their desire for a change in government.

Speaking during an Arise TV town hall on Tuesday, the APC candidate said he had visited more than 30 local government areas in the state three times as part of his consultations and campaign mobilisation.

He said the feedback from party members, community leaders, artisans, traders, civil servants and other groups had convinced him that residents were prepared for a change.

Oyebamiji also claimed that his campaign had received endorsements from about 42 sectors and groups in Osun over the past two months, including traders, women, youths and private-sector groups.

The APC candidate rejected the argument that Adeleke's popularity gave the incumbent an advantage, urging voters to compare both candidates based on their qualifications and experience.

He argued that his professional and administrative background made him better suited to lead the state and said his expected victory would be based on the decision of Osun voters rather than federal influence.

“By special grace of God, I’m coming in as the governor of Osun come 15th of August 2026,” Oyebamiji said, expressing confidence in his chances.

He also described claims of “federal might” as a distraction, insisting that the election would ultimately be determined by the people of Osun State.
