Residents of Ede, Osun State, turned out early on Saturday to participate in the ongoing governorship election in the hometown of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

As early as 6:30am, vehicles were seen conveying voters and NYSC members to various polling units across the town. Some voters arrived at their polling units by 6:40am, waiting for INEC officials to verify their names and commence accreditation.

Security personnel were also deployed across Ede North and Ede South Local Government Areas, with checkpoints mounted in line with the police restriction on vehicular movement during the election.

Police and NSCDC personnel arrived at some polling units as early as 6:50am, ahead of INEC officials and election materials.

Accreditation had begun at some polling units, although officials had yet to display voter registers at some locations visited by reporters.

Polling units visited included locations in Sagba Agbogunde, Adogbe, CAC and Orita Alajue, among others.

Ede is the hometown of Adeleke, who is seeking re-election as the Accord Party governorship candidate.
