Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen continued his blistering start to the new Turkish Super Lig season, scoring twice and providing an assist as defending champions Galatasaray thrashed Erzurumspor 4-0 on Friday.
Roland Sallai opened the scoring in the 12th minute before Osimhen turned provider eight minutes later, setting up Yunus Akgün to double Galatasaray’s advantage.
Osimhen then got on the scoresheet in first-half stoppage time to give Galatasaray a 3-0 lead at the break.
The Nigerian completed his brace in the 80th minute, sealing another dominant victory for the Turkish champions.
The performance means Osimhen has now scored four goals in his opening two Super Lig matches of the season, having also netted twice in Galatasaray’s first league fixture.
The 27-year-old has also contributed an assist, giving him five goal contributions in his first two league appearances.
Osimhen’s latest display further underlines his importance to Galatasaray as the club seek to defend their Super Lig title for a third consecutive season.
The Nigerian striker’s form comes amid continued transfer speculation, with Galatasaray recently rejecting a reported €130m verbal offer from Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal and insisting that they have no intention of selling him.
