New Abia CP Assumes Office, Warns Officers Against Indiscipline

The new Commissioner of Police in Abia State, Wilfred Afolabi, has assumed duty as the 35th Commissioner of Police in the state, pledging to strengthen security while warning officers against indiscipline and unprofessional conduct.

Afolabi took over from Danladi Isa, who was recently promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police.

Speaking after assuming office, the new commissioner outlined his commitment to protecting lives and property, preventing crime and improving security across Abia State.

He urged officers and personnel under his command to maintain discipline, professionalism and respect for the rights of residents in the discharge of their duties.

Afolabi warned that indiscipline, misconduct and other forms of unprofessional behaviour would not be tolerated, stressing the importance of accountability within the command.

He also called for stronger cooperation between the police and residents, urging members of the public to provide useful information that could assist the command in preventing and tackling crime.

The commissioner said the command would adopt proactive and intelligence-led policing while working with other security agencies and relevant stakeholders to address security challenges.

He assured residents of the command's commitment to creating a safer environment and protecting lives and property throughout the state.
