Martins, Mercedes Evicted From BBNaija Season 11

Martins Iyeh and Ijeoma “Mercedes” Emi have been evicted from the Big Brother Naija “Show Ya Sef” reality show, becoming the first housemates to leave the Season 11 competition.

Their exit was announced by the host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, during the live eviction show on Sunday. The pair were the bottom two contestants in the first public vote of the season, while Keivo narrowly survived after receiving a higher percentage of votes.

Martins was announced as the first housemate to leave the competition, followed by Mercedes in the first double eviction of the season. The result reduced the number of housemates remaining in the main house to 22, with two Gambits retaining immunity from eviction.

The voting figures released during the show showed that Martins polled 1.63 per cent of the votes, while Mercedes received 2.29 per cent. Keivo, who was also among the contestants at risk, secured 2.92 per cent and survived the eviction.

Martins, a 30-year-old visual storyteller and model from Kogi State, was the first to appear on stage after his eviction. He said his time in the house had been an important experience and indicated that he intended to make use of the publicity gained from the programme.

Mercedes, whose full name is Ijeoma Emi and who is also known as Victoria Ijeoma Emi, was introduced as a 26-year-old entrepreneur from Delta State. She was evicted shortly after Martins and also joined Ebuka on stage to discuss her experience.

The entrepreneur said she had given the competition her best and was proud that she had shown her personality during her time in the house. She said she had gone beyond her limits and was ready to continue pursuing her plans outside the show.

Mercedes disclosed that she intended to continue her massage business and expand her concierge business. She also said she hoped to pay for her father’s surgery, outlining personal goals that she wanted to pursue after leaving the competition.

Her eviction came as a surprise to some viewers because contestants with strong business identities often use the Big Brother Naija platform to promote their brands and attract new customers. However, the voting process is determined by viewers, and popularity outside the house does not always translate into enough support during a particular eviction week.

The first eviction has changed the atmosphere in the house. Remaining housemates now know that their time in the competition will depend heavily on their ability to connect with viewers, participate in tasks and remain visible during the weeks ahead.
