Real Madrid forward Yan Diomande has expressed his strong admiration for José Mourinho, saying he is ready to give everything for the Portuguese manager.
The Ivorian was quoted as saying players develop a special bond with Mourinho when they work under him.
“When you play for José Mourinho, you want to DIE for him. I am ready to die for him,” Diomande said, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The youngster also insisted that he was not under pressure despite the significant transfer fee involved in his move to Real Madrid.
He said the amount spent on his transfer reflected the club’s confidence in his ability rather than something that should make him nervous.
“They spent a lot of money because they believe in me; why will I be scared?” he said.
“I’m not scared; I feel no pressure. I will do what I do, and God will do the rest,” he added. Real Madrid reportedly completed the signing of the Ivory Coast international from RB Leipzig in a deal worth up to €140 million (£120 million).
The highly rated teenager signed a seven-year contract with the Spanish giants and is expected to play an important role in the club’s plans.
Diomande’s comments underline his confidence as he prepares to justify Madrid’s investment and establish himself at the Santiago Bernabéu.
