The Kwara State Government has directed the immediate delivery of the preferred oxygen cylinder sizes to the Children’s Specialist Hospital, Centre Igboro, Ilorin, following concerns over difficulties in supplying oxygen to patients.

The directive was issued by the Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Hospitals Management Board, Dr Abdulraheem Malik, during a monitoring and inspection visit to the hospital.

The inspection assessed several aspects of healthcare delivery, including patient care, staff performance, power supply, water supply, drugs and consumables, ventilation and general facility conditions.

The hospital’s Chief Medical Director, Dr Mosunmola Folorunsho, raised concerns about the availability of oxygen cylinders in different sizes, explaining that the situation was creating operational difficulties in delivering oxygen to patients.

In response, Malik directed the Board’s Engineering and Development Projects Department to supply the hospital with its preferred cylinder size going forward.

He said the intervention was aimed at improving efficiency and ensuring that patients who require oxygen receive the essential medical support without unnecessary delays.

Malik also assured the hospital management that the issues identified during the inspection would be reviewed and addressed within the Board’s capacity.

He commended the hospital’s management and staff for their commitment to providing quality healthcare to children and urged them to maintain professionalism, discipline and compassion in their duties.
