The Nigeria Immigration Service, Osun State Command, has arrested 55 irregular migrants from Cameroon and Congo who allegedly entered Nigeria through unauthorised routes without valid travel documents. The migrants were also accused of engaging in unregistered online business activities.
The Nigeria Immigration Service, Osun State Command, has arrested 55 irregular migrants from Cameroon and Congo for allegedly entering Nigeria through unauthorised routes without valid travel documents.
The migrants were paraded by the command in Osogbo on Friday following intelligence-led operations carried out at different locations across the state.
The Osun Comptroller of Immigration, Ibrahim Akinyemi, said the migrants were arrested after intelligence officers traced their residences and took them into custody for profiling and documentation checks.
Akinyemi said none of the 55 migrants had valid travel documents, including ordinary passports.
He added that the migrants had been staying in Osun and engaging in what they described as online business activities, which the command said were not registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission.
The comptroller said some of the migrants were apprehended in Owode-Ede, while the command was still searching for others who might be staying at undisclosed locations across the state.
According to him, the migrants claimed during interrogation that they were involved in an online business known as QNET.
Akinyemi said the migrants would be profiled to determine whether any of them qualified for legal regularisation before the appropriate immigration action was taken.
He also disclosed that the command would investigate those responsible for bringing the migrants into Osun through unauthorised routes.
One of the migrants, Ismail Mohammed, a Cameroonian, said he arrived in Osun in February 2026 after being invited by a woman living in Chad to engage in online business.
The Immigration Service said the arrested migrants would be repatriated in line with the directives of its headquarters.
