Former Minister of Finance Kemi Adeosun has described the death of her husband, Anthony Adeniyi Adeosun, as painful, saying she remains grateful for the years they spent together.

Adeosun spoke on Thursday during her husband’s funeral service in Lagos. Adeniyi, who was 62, died on August 5.

The former minister said she was heartbroken by the sudden loss, explaining that her husband had not been ill before his death. According to her, he simply went to bed and did not wake up.

She recalled seeing him at the mortuary and said he had a peaceful expression on his face, describing the moment as comforting despite the circumstances.

Reflecting on their marriage, Adeosun said the couple had planned to spend more time travelling together, noting that their 33rd wedding anniversary would have been this year.

She described her late husband as a mischievous and humorous person who brought laughter into their home, recalling several memorable moments from their life together.

Adeosun expressed gratitude to God for her husband’s life, their marriage and children, as well as the family and friends who supported them.

Anthony Adeniyi Adeosun was described by his family as a respected businessman and devoted Christian. He is survived by his wife, children and siblings.
