Ezechukwu's World U-20 Dream Ends in Disqualification

Nigeria's Miracle Ezechukwu has been disqualified from the women's 200m final at the World U-20 Championships in Eugene, Oregon, after officials ruled that she committed a lane infringement.

Ezechukwu had produced one of the standout performances of the semi-final round, clocking a personal best of 22.61 seconds to finish second and appear to secure her place in the final.

However, her qualification was overturned after officials ruled that she had stepped outside her designated lane. Team Nigeria lodged a protest seeking to have the decision reversed and the teenager reinstated for the final.

The appeal was rejected, ending Ezechukwu's campaign at the championships and leaving her visibly devastated by the decision.

Despite the setback, her 22.61-second performance marked a significant personal achievement and underlined her emergence as one of Nigeria's promising young sprinters.

Nigeria will still have representation in the women's 200m final through Oghene Success Oyibu, who won her semi-final in 23.13 seconds to qualify for the medal race.
