Idahosa announced the cash gift in a statement issued on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Friday Aghedo.

The deputy governor described Delight’s performance as a testament to hard work, discipline and determination, saying the achievement had made his family and Edo State proud.

He said the gesture was intended not only to reward the student’s exceptional performance but also to inspire other young people in the state to take their education seriously.

“I am delighted to give Delight Amayaenvbo N1m cash gift for scoring straight As in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination,” Idahosa said.

He urged students across Edo to remain focused on their studies, noting that academic excellence could create greater opportunities for young people and contribute to the development of the state.

Delight’s father, Charity Amayaenvbo, expressed appreciation to the deputy governor for recognising his son’s achievement.

He described the gesture as a significant encouragement to the family and prayed that it would inspire more young people to pursue academic excellence.
