Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has expressed confidence in the re-election bid of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, declaring that "God got us" despite criticisms and political attacks from the opposition ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

Davido, who is Governor Adeleke's nephew, made the remark while addressing journalists in Osogbo, urging residents to remain peaceful and reject violence, intimidation and provocation before, during and after the election. He stressed that no political ambition should be allowed to endanger lives or destabilise the state.

The singer called on eligible voters to come out and vote without fear, insisting that every vote should count and that the outcome of the election must reflect the will of the people. He appealed to political parties, candidates and their supporters to respect the choice of the electorate regardless of the result.

Davido also appealed to political leaders to promote peace throughout the electoral process, urging all stakeholders to avoid actions capable of creating tension in the state. He maintained that democracy can only thrive when elections are conducted freely, fairly and without intimidation.

The entertainer reaffirmed his support for Governor Adeleke while encouraging Osun residents to remain united and peaceful throughout the election period, saying the future of the state should take precedence over political differences.
