APC Chieftain Lauds Tunji-Ojo’s Direct Relief to Ondo Flood Victims
APC chieftain Omoyele Olabode has commended Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo for providing direct cash relief to more than 1,000 flood victims in Ondo South. He said the intervention helped ease the hardship caused by the floods and demonstrated commitment to grassroots welfare.
An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Ondo State, Omoyele Olabode, has commended the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for providing cash relief to more than 1,000 flood victims in Ondo South Senatorial District.
Olabode, in a statement on Thursday, said the minister’s intervention had brought relief to households affected by the recent flooding across the six Local Government Areas in the senatorial district.
The cash transfers were made under Tunji-Ojo’s Flood Relief Palliative Sponsored initiative, with former House of Representatives member Kolade Akinjo coordinating the disbursement.
Akinjo said the intervention was aimed at cushioning the economic impact of the floods and providing direct financial assistance to affected households.
Olabode described the intervention as timely, saying it addressed the immediate needs of residents at a difficult period.
He said the gesture reflected President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Tunji-Ojo’s commitment to grassroots welfare in Ondo State.
“The cash transfers have gone a long way in easing the pain of our people in Ondo South. It shows a leader who feels the pulse of his people and acts without delay,” he said.
The APC chieftain urged other political leaders and well-meaning Nigerians to emulate the minister by supporting flood victims while government intensifies efforts towards long-term flood control and drainage projects in the affected communities.
He noted that residents were still expecting intervention from the National Emergency Management Agency, adding that Tunji-Ojo’s support had provided immediate assistance to victims.
Olabode said such people-oriented initiatives could strengthen public confidence in government and improve the relationship between government and communities affected by the disaster.
