Anioma State Creation Threatened if Nwoko Fails to Return to Senate — Oganah
Anioma State advocates warn that the state creation project may suffer setback if Senator Ned Nwoko fails to return to Senate. They urge APC and President Tinubu to ensure political justice.
The Anioma State Creation Media Director, Mr. Tonnie Oganah, has warned that the long-standing agitation for Anioma State may be jeopardised if Senator Ned Nwoko’s re-election bid is not secured.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Oganah expressed concern that internal political divisions and what he described as “unpatriotic politics” could derail the decades-long push for the creation of Anioma State, comprising nine local government areas in Delta State.
He argued that Senator Nwoko has played a central role in advancing the state creation agenda, insisting that his continued presence in the Senate is crucial to sustaining legislative momentum on the issue.
According to him, the agitation for statehood risks being “buried forever” if the senator’s political future is threatened, adding that opponents of the initiative are undermining what he described as a collective aspiration of the Anioma people.
Oganah further claimed that Nwoko had invested significant personal resources and effort into the campaign for state creation, while praising his legislative contributions and what he described as recognition from fellow lawmakers.
He maintained that the push for Anioma State is aimed at economic empowerment, job creation, and improved opportunities for residents, arguing that political continuity is necessary to achieve those goals.
He also linked state creation to social stability, claiming that increased employment opportunities would reduce crime and improve youth engagement in the region.
Oganah called on the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene in what he described as issues surrounding Senator Nwoko’s political situation, urging fairness and internal party justice.
He stressed that the Anioma people remain loyal to the APC and support the current administration, warning against what he termed political betrayal and internal sabotage within the party.
The statement also cautioned the party against individuals who, according to him, may publicly pledge loyalty while working against the party’s interests behind the scenes.
