Anderlecht Make €3.5m Move for Ejuke

Belgian Pro League side Anderlecht have submitted a €3.5 million bid for Super Eagles winger Chidera Ejuke as the Nigerian edges closer to leaving Spanish club Sevilla during the current transfer window.

Ejuke, who has one year remaining on his contract with Sevilla, has reportedly been informed that he is no longer part of the club’s long-term plans. The Spanish side are said to be willing to part ways with the 28-year-old for a fee of around €3 million as they continue reshaping their squad.

Although the Nigerian resumed pre-season training with Sevilla, he was omitted from the squad that travelled to the Netherlands for the club’s pre-season tour, further strengthening reports that his departure is imminent.

Spanish media outlet Vamos Sevilla reported that Anderlecht are determined to strengthen their attacking options as they prepare for another title challenge against Belgian rivals Union Saint-Gilloise and Club Brugge.

Ejuke is no stranger to Belgian football, having impressed during a loan spell with Antwerp in the 2023/24 campaign. During that season, he scored four goals and registered four assists in 29 league appearances, helping to raise his profile in the country.

Following that successful spell, Sevilla signed him on a free transfer. However, the move has not produced the expected results, with the winger managing only three goals and two assists in 52 appearances across all competitions for the Spanish club.

Despite his struggles in La Liga, Ejuke remains an attractive option for clubs seeking an experienced wide player with pace and creativity.

Anderlecht are not alone in the race for his signature, as several clubs from Saudi Arabia have also expressed interest in the Nigerian international.

The Middle Eastern clubs are reportedly capable of offering Ejuke a significantly higher salary, which could influence his final decision.

With the transfer window still open, Anderlecht’s offer represents the first concrete attempt to secure the services of the former Antwerp star, while Sevilla continue efforts to reduce their wage bill and reshape their squad ahead of the new season.
