LASU is set to graduate 20,604 students across two academic sessions, including 494 first-class graduates and 3,383 postgraduate students.

A total of 494 students have graduated with First Class honours as Lagos State University prepares to confer degrees on 20,604 graduands at its 29th and 30th combined convocation ceremonies.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, disclosed this on Wednesday while announcing plans for the combined convocation covering the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 academic sessions.

Of the 494 first-class graduates, 262 achieved the distinction in the 2024/2025 session, while 232 did so in 2025/2026.

For the 2024/2025 session, 7,621 students graduated from first-degree programmes. This included 3,155 Second Class Upper, 3,439 Second Class Lower, 622 Third Class and 37 pass graduates. Another 106 students in the MBBS and BDS programmes received unclassified degrees.

In the 2025/2026 session, 8,653 students graduated from first-degree programmes, including 3,545 Second Class Upper, 4,157 Second Class Lower, 678 Third Class and 31 pass graduates.

The university will also graduate 3,383 postgraduate students, comprising postgraduate diploma, academic and professional master's, PhD and professional doctoral graduates.

Ayilara Lawal Olawale of the Department of Project Management emerged as the overall best graduating student for 2024/2025 with a CGPA of 4.96, while Adebanjo Samuel Oluolamide of Aerospace Engineering was the best graduating student for 2025/2026 with a CGPA of 4.97.

The convocation ceremonies will take place from August 17 to 19, with degrees for Engineering and Agricultural Sciences conferred on August 17 at the Epe Campus, while other faculties will receive their degrees on August 18 at the Ojo Campus. Doctoral and honorary doctorate degrees will be conferred on August 19.
