Four governorship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State have reconciled with the party's governorship candidate, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, and pledged to support the APC in the 2027 general elections.

The aspirants are former Deputy Governor Rauf Olaniyan, Oyedele Alao, Musbau Asanike and Dr Ololade Bakare. Their reconciliation followed meetings by the party's Governorship Aspirants' Reconciliation Committee, which was established to address disagreements arising from the governorship primary.

Chairman of the committee, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, announced the development at a press conference in Akinyele Local Government Area of the state.

Lanlehin said the aspirants had expressed reservations about the primary process and its outcome but agreed to put their differences aside in the interest of building a stronger party ahead of the 2027 election.

He said the reconciliation demonstrated that the party had more issues uniting its members than dividing them, stressing that victory in a governorship election required a united political structure.

In a communique issued after the meetings, the four aspirants pledged their “unwavering and unflinching support” for President Bola Tinubu, Alli and other APC candidates contesting the 2027 elections. They also promised to cooperate with the party's campaign structures to secure victory.

The committee said the reconciliation process involving the APC's “G6” governorship aspirants had been concluded, except for Barrister Akeem Agbaje.

The reconciled aspirants also expressed their intention to meet with President Tinubu at his convenience to reaffirm their support for his 2027 presidential bid.
