103 Nigerian Dentists Inducted as International Fellows
103 Nigerian dental professionals have been inducted as Fellows of the International College of Dentists at UNIBEN during activities marking the 50th anniversary of the university's School of Dentistry.
A total of 103 Nigerian dental professionals have been inducted as Fellows of the International College of Dentists at the University of Benin, Edo State.
The induction ceremony, held on Tuesday, formed part of activities marking the 50th anniversary and alumni reunion of the University of Benin School of Dentistry.
The ceremony was conducted under the supervision of the Regent of the ICD West Africa Sub-region, Prof Gbemisola Oke.
Among those inducted were the President of the Nigerian Dental Association, Dr Elias Emedom, Prof Matthew Sede, Prof Ese Anibor, Prof Mercy Okoh, Dr Benneth Uwakwem, Dr Adesina Ayodele, Dr Chris Eyikor, Dr Ejiro Idiga and Dr Adewuwa Abe.
The International College of Dentists Fellowship is conferred on dental professionals who have made significant contributions to the profession or their communities.
Three dignitaries were also inducted as honorary fellows. They were the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof Edoba Omoregie, Prof Sanni Shehu and former Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Prof Kabiru Bala.
Speaking at the event, Omoregie said the School of Dentistry had fulfilled its vision of producing highly skilled dental professionals capable of addressing Nigeria's oral healthcare needs.
He said the university had produced generations of dentists, specialists, educators, researchers and administrators who had made significant contributions within and outside Nigeria.
The Vice-Chancellor assured that the university would continue supporting the School of Dentistry to ensure its graduates remain competitive in dental care delivery both nationally and internationally.
