The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has issued a stern warning to Rev. Isaac Omolehin of Word Assembly Ministry, demanding an immediate retraction of what it described as false and defamatory claims against the association or risk legal action.

The warning follows allegations circulating publicly that suggested a North–South division within CAN and the diversion of funds meant for persecuted Christians in Northern Nigeria. CAN firmly dismissed the claims, stating they are entirely false and misleading.

In a statement signed by its President, Daniel Okoh, the association refuted the allegations in strong terms.

“We state, in the clearest possible terms: these allegations are entirely false, unfounded, and deliberately misleading,” Okoh said, adding that CAN has neither received nor managed any such relief funds, nor diverted any resources under any circumstance.

He described the claims as dangerous fabrications intended to misinform the public, damage the Church’s reputation, and erode trust among believers.

CAN also rejected assertions of internal division, emphasizing that it remains a united and indivisible body across Nigeria. “There is no split, no secession, and no division within our structure. Any suggestion to the contrary is false and should be disregarded,” the statement noted.

The association expressed concern that the claims, made without evidence, could inflame tensions and undermine national cohesion. It also raised alarm over references to prominent Christian leaders such as Enoch Adeboye, David Oyedepo, and William Kumuyi, warning that such mentions could mislead the faithful and heighten unnecessary tension.

Issuing what it described as a final caution, CAN urged Omolehin and others to desist from spreading unverified information. It warned that failure to comply would compel the association to pursue all legal avenues to protect its integrity and that of the Christian community.

CAN further advised the public, media, and international community to rely only on verified information from its official channels, reaffirming its commitment to truth, unity, accountability, and service to Nigerians.
