The National Coordinator of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Media Warriors Forum, Chinedu Obigwe, has clarified that the party’s support is strictly for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027 and not for candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) contesting other political offices.
Obigwe made the clarification in response to growing interpretations of comments credited to Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, who had emphasised a political alignment under the slogan “Progressives are working together.”
According to him, Soludo’s statement refers only to a cooperative relationship between the Anambra State Government and the federal administration led by President Tinubu, and should not be misinterpreted as a blanket endorsement of APC candidates.
Reports had emerged of campaign posters in Anambra State featuring Tinubu, Soludo, and various APC aspirants for legislative positions, suggesting a broader political alliance ahead of the 2027 elections.
However, Obigwe dismissed such claims, insisting that APGA’s support is limited exclusively to Tinubu’s presidential ambition, while the party remains firmly committed to winning all legislative seats in Anambra State.
He stressed that APGA will field its own candidates for the Senate, House of Representatives, and State Assembly elections in the state, describing those contests as “must-win” for the party.
“We are unapologetically supporting President Tinubu’s re-election, but all legislative positions in Anambra remain APGA’s stronghold,” he stated.
The clarification comes amid increasing political positioning ahead of 2027, as parties and stakeholders begin to define alliances and electoral strategies across the country.
