President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally launched his 2027 re-election campaign, purchasing the presidential expression of interest and nomination forms of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja.

The forms, which cost a combined N100 million, were obtained on his behalf by supporters and political allies from across the country. The process was led by James Faleke, a member of the House of Representatives and a key figure in the Tinubu Support Group.

Faleke received the documents from the APC National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, marking the president as the first aspirant to secure the party’s ticket ahead of the 2027 elections.

Beyond Tinubu, Faleke also collected nomination forms for other aspirants, including Lagos State Deputy Governor, Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat, who is positioned as a consensus governorship candidate for Lagos in 2027. He also obtained forms for Senator Idiat Adebule and himself, as he seeks re-election to the House of Representatives.

Addressing journalists, Faleke dismissed claims that a single individual funded Tinubu’s form, explaining that contributions came from over 1,000 supporters. He described the effort as a collective show of support, expressing confidence that Tinubu would not only contest but also win the election.

Meanwhile, the APC has denied allegations that nomination forms are being selectively sold. The party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Duro Meseko, maintained that the process remains open to all qualified members.

In a related development, Senator Shehu Buba also obtained a governorship nomination form to contest in Bauchi State, declaring his intention to challenge the incumbent administration.

Elsewhere, Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo convened a stakeholders’ meeting to explore consensus arrangements ahead of the elections. However, discussions ended without a clear resolution, highlighting ongoing political negotiations within the party.
