A 17-year-old student of Lagos State University (LASU), who was earlier declared missing, has been found in Ekiti State, bringing relief to her family and the university community after days of uncertainty.

The student, whose identity was withheld for security reasons, was reported missing after she failed to return home and could not be reached on her phone. Her disappearance sparked concern among family members, friends, and fellow students, who raised alarm and reported the matter to the authorities.

According to preliminary reports, the case was escalated to security agencies after initial efforts to trace her proved unsuccessful. A coordinated search effort involving law enforcement authorities and community networks was subsequently launched to locate her.

She was later discovered in Ekiti State, though details surrounding how she got there remain unclear at the time of filing this report. Security sources indicated that she was found safe, and there were no immediate signs of physical harm. She has since been taken into protective custody while arrangements are made for her safe return to Lagos.

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the student was abducted, travelled voluntarily, or was influenced by external factors. Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances that led to her disappearance and subsequent reappearance in another state.

The development has been received with relief by members of the LASU community, who had expressed concern over the increasing cases of missing young persons in recent times. Student representatives have also called for improved safety awareness and stronger monitoring systems to prevent similar incidents.

Security agencies are expected to continue their investigation to establish full details of the case, including how the student travelled from Lagos to Ekiti without being immediately traced.

Officials have assured the public that further updates will be provided as more facts become available, while also urging parents and guardians to maintain close communication with their children, especially students living away from home.

The incident has once again highlighted concerns about youth safety and the need for quicker response mechanisms in missing persons cases across the country.
