The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has debunked a widely circulated claim that a candidate from Cross River State scored 394 in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), describing the result as fake.
The result slip, shared on X by a user identified as @Onsogbu, alleged that a female candidate, Okon Winniefred Sampson, achieved an exceptional score of 394 out of 400, with near-perfect marks across all subjects.
However, in a statement issued on Sunday, JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, dismissed the claim, urging the public to disregard the document.
“A purported result slip currently being circulated, claiming that a candidate scored 394 in the 2026 UTME, is entirely fake. It is surprising that such a fabrication is being shared,” the statement read.
Benjamin explained that UTME results are strictly view-only and are not meant to be printed or shared in the format seen in the viral post. He added that the document being circulated clearly does not match the Board’s official result template.
According to him, the registration number displayed on the slip also raises red flags, as it does not align with JAMB’s system-generated numbering structure.
“The circulated document appears on a fabricated template. Additionally, the registration number does not conform to the Board’s format, which further exposes it as fraudulent,” he said.
The examination body advised Nigerians to rely solely on official communication channels for accurate information regarding UTME results.
JAMB reiterated that all results for the ongoing examination cycle remain accessible only through its authorised platforms and warned against the spread of misleading information online.
