Scott Parker has left his role as head coach of Burnley FC by mutual consent following the club’s relegation from the Premier League.
In a statement released on Thursday, Burnley confirmed that both parties agreed it was the right time to part ways after a difficult season in the top flight. Despite earning promotion just a year earlier, the club managed only four league wins this season.
Burnley’s relegation was confirmed on April 22 after a 1-0 home defeat to Manchester City, shortly after Wolverhampton Wanderers also dropped out of the league.
Parker, who previously managed Fulham FC, AFC Bournemouth, and Club Brugge, was appointed in July 2024 on a three-year deal, succeeding Vincent Kompany.
He guided Burnley to an impressive promotion campaign in the 2024/25 season, which included a remarkable 31-match unbeaten run and 30 clean sheets. However, the current campaign proved challenging, with the team conceding 68 goals in 34 matches—the highest in the league—and suffering early exits from both domestic cup competitions.
The club expressed appreciation for Parker’s efforts, praising his professionalism and contribution during his tenure.
In his farewell message, Parker described his time at the club as an “immense privilege,” highlighting pride in the promotion achievement and gratitude for the opportunity to lead the team in the Premier League.
Assistant coach Mike Jackson will take charge of the team for their remaining fixtures, starting with a clash against Leeds United. Meanwhile, the club has begun the search for a new permanent head coach ahead of the 2026/27 season.
