A court has dismissed the lawsuit filed by Fuji music icon Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, challenging the process surrounding the Awujale of Ijebuland.
The court ruled that the suit lacked sufficient legal merit and declined to interfere in the traditional selection process.
K1 had approached the court seeking to halt or question aspects of the succession process following the passing of the former Awujale.
In its judgment, the court emphasized respect for established traditional institutions and procedures, noting that the matter fell largely within customary jurisdiction.
The ruling effectively clears the way for the continuation of processes toward the installation of a new Awujale.
Reactions have been mixed, with some stakeholders welcoming the decision while others call for dialogue to maintain unity in Ijebuland.
