The Kenyan government has imposed a dusk to dawn curfew in parts of Transmara following violent clashes that have led to loss of lives and destruction of property. The curfew took effect immediately as security forces were deployed to restore calm.

Authorities have also issued a seventy two hour ultimatum for residents in possession of illegal firearms to surrender them. Officials warned that failure to comply would attract severe consequences.

Local leaders say the conflict is rooted in long standing disputes over land and grazing rights. Human rights groups have urged restraint while calling for dialogue to prevent further bloodshed.

The government says it remains committed to protecting lives and ensuring lasting peace in the affected communities.
