A Peoples Democratic Party caretaker committee backed by former Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike has assumed control of the party structure, dissolving fourteen state executive committees in the process.
Party sources said the move was necessary to stabilise internal crises and reposition the party for future elections. The caretaker committee has promised inclusive leadership and reconciliation among aggrieved members.
However, some party stakeholders have criticised the development, warning that it could deepen internal divisions if not properly managed.
