President Volodymyr Zelensky is facing fresh internal turbulence as some of his own advisers reportedly fear he is becoming increasingly detached from the realities confronting Ukraine.
According to insider accounts cited in international reports, key members of the president’s circle believe he is operating in a tightly controlled bubble, receiving filtered information while public anger, battlefield strain, and political pressure continue to mount.
The advisers claim that several of Zelensky’s recent decisions — including stricter military discipline laws and controversial moves affecting anti-corruption agencies — have deepened concerns that the leadership may be misreading the national mood at a critical time.
The criticism has also echoed internationally. Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó recently accused Zelensky of “losing touch with reality” after the Ukrainian leader suggested Kyiv could push forward with its EU ambitions without Budapest’s consent. Analysts note that such remarks risk straining diplomatic ties at a moment when Ukraine heavily depends on external support.
As Ukraine battles ongoing Russian offensives and navigates internal political turbulence, experts say the perception of a leadership drifting away from ground realities could further complicate efforts to maintain national cohesion.
Zelensky has not publicly responded to the claims, but observers warn that rebuilding trust and broadening consultations may be essential as the country enters a decisive phase of the conflict.
