Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has ordered the Kano State Police Command to immediately track down and arrest those responsible for the killing of a woman, Fatima Abubakar, and her six children in the Dorayi Chiranchi area of the state.
The directive was conveyed in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, in which the governor described the incident as horrifying, unacceptable and a serious attack on human dignity. He stressed that the perpetrators must be brought to justice and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
Governor Yusuf expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and extended his condolences to the bereaved family, residents of Dorayi Chiranchi and the wider Kano community. He prayed for the repose of the victims’ souls and for strength for those affected by the loss.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to security, the governor warned that anyone found culpable in the crime would face the full weight of the law. He said the government would not tolerate acts of violence against innocent citizens.
In addition to directing the police to intensify investigations, Governor Yusuf also instructed the Kano Neighbourhood Corps to step up patrols and community surveillance, particularly in vulnerable areas, as part of efforts to prevent similar incidents.
He appealed to residents to remain calm and cooperate fully with security agencies by providing useful information and promptly reporting suspicious activities. The governor assured the public that the protection of lives and property remains a top priority of his administration.
The incident has reportedly plunged the Dorayi Chiranchi community into mourning, heightening concerns over safety among residents and prompting renewed calls for enhanced security measures.
