The Starboy camp has closed out 2025 on a commanding note, with DJ Tunez crowned Nigeria’s most-streamed DJ of the year. As the year wraps up, it has become increasingly clear that Wizkid’s empire is operating on an entirely different level.
While Wizkid himself has spent the final quarter collecting year-end streaming accolades across Spotify, Apple Music, and TurnTable’s radio charts, it is his long-serving collaborator, DJ Tunez, who has delivered one of the team’s standout achievements.
Fresh Spotify data confirms Tunez as the country’s top-streamed DJ in 2025, a milestone that strengthens Starboy’s firm grip on the African music scene. The accomplishment reflects not just Tunez’s consistency, but the calibre of talent within Wizkid’s circle.
Maphorisa Tops Africa, while Tunez Leads Nigeria
The rankings, which sparked lively reactions online, were shared by Africa Facts Zone on X earlier this week. The list highlighted the monthly listener numbers of DJs on Spotify, a metric that, in the current digital era, offers a clear picture of reach, influence, and cultural relevance.
As expected, South Africa’s leading Amapiano producers dominated the continental rankings, with the genre still serving as Africa’s most globally recognisable sound.
Nigeria also featured prominently, with two of the country’s top DJs securing places among the upper tier, further emphasising Nigeria’s growing presence in the international DJ landscape.
