Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has declared that his administration has launched a decisive campaign to address insecurity in the state, vowing that the threat will be completely eradicated.
Speaking on Wednesday evening while hosting Muslim faithful to an Iftar at the New Banquet Hall of the Government House, Alia praised the federal government for supporting state efforts to combat banditry. He emphasized unity, shared responsibility, and sustained prayers as key to restoring peace and driving socio-economic growth across Benue.
Alia highlighted the symbolic overlap of Ramadan and Lent, noting that the period provides a unique opportunity to foster interfaith harmony and collective prayers for the state. In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, the governor urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and credible information.
Acknowledging the security challenges inherited by his administration, Alia affirmed his commitment to a proactive and strategic response. “While insecurity remains a concern, we are resilient in our commitment to confronting it decisively. With sustained efforts and the grace of God, we shall overcome. This monster is called insecurity, but we have started cutting the head and it must die,” he stated.
Beyond security, the governor stressed the importance of collaboration among stakeholders to reposition Benue as a hub for investment. He encouraged citizens to prioritize the collective good over personal differences, saying, “Think Benue, love Benue and join hands to make Benue great again.”
Alia concluded by urging the people of Benue to uphold mutual respect, shared purpose, and unity in advancing the state’s development and ensuring a secure environment for all residents.
