Veteran producer Wale Adenuga has reacted to recent claims made by actor Abiodun Ayoyinka regarding financial hardship despite playing the iconic role of Papa Ajasco.

The controversy began after Ayoyinka revealed in an interview that he earns about ₦45,000 per episode and struggles financially, noting that he does not own a house or car.

In response, Adenuga dismissed the growing narrative that the actor was underpaid or exploited, describing much of the public reaction as driven by misinformation. He maintained that their working relationship has remained cordial over the years.

The producer, however, questioned Ayoyinka’s claim of being broke, pointing out that the actor spent more than three decades working in the Lagos State civil service before retiring. Adenuga asked what became of the benefits and gratuities earned during that long period of service.

He also reiterated that there has been no dispute between them and praised Ayoyinka for his portrayal of the well-known character, which closely reflects the original concept he created.

The situation has sparked widespread debate online, with many Nigerians expressing mixed reactions, some sympathising with the actor’s condition, while others agree with Adenuga’s position that the full story may be more complex.
