Popular Nigerian social media critic, VeryDarkMan, has commended officers of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command for assisting a mentally unstable woman to safely deliver a baby in Kwali Area Council.
Narrating the incident on his Instagram handle, VeryDarkMan said the event occurred in the early hours of April 3, 2026, during a routine patrol by officers of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), who had been deployed across the FCT due to heightened security ahead of the Easter celebrations.
“At about 12:20 a.m., the officers on patrol around Kwaita village in Kwali Area Council heard loud cries from the roadside. They immediately moved toward the sound and discovered a mentally unstable woman in labour,” he said.
The FCT Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that officers were informed around 12:30 a.m., prompting rapid mobilization. In a statement issued on Saturday, Police Public Relations Officer SP Josephine Adeh said the Officer-in-Charge of the Gender Unit at Kwali Division, alongside her team, promptly responded and assisted the woman through childbirth, ensuring both mother and child were safe.
VeryDarkMan praised the officers for their swift and humane response, describing their actions as “exemplary.” He also announced his personal commitment to the child’s future, pledging to sponsor the baby’s education from primary school through university.
The incident has since generated widespread attention on social media, with many users applauding the police for demonstrating compassion and dedication to public service beyond their conventional duties.
This remarkable act by the FCT Police Command underscores the importance of community-oriented policing and highlights the role of law enforcement in responding to emergencies that extend beyond traditional crime control.
