The White House has confirmed that a proposed 45-day ceasefire deal with Iran is under consideration, but President Donald Trump has not approved the plan.
According to U.S. media reports, mediators recently presented the ceasefire proposal to Washington as part of efforts to ease tensions in the Middle East conflict.
A White House official, speaking to AFP on Monday, clarified that while the proposal is being reviewed, no final decision has been made.
“This is one of many ideas, and POTUS has not signed off on it. Operation Epic Fury continues,” the official said.
The statement indicates that ongoing military operations have not been paused despite the diplomatic efforts.
The official also noted that President Trump is expected to address the situation further during a scheduled press conference at 1:00 pm (1700 GMT).
The development underscores the uncertainty surrounding efforts to reach a temporary truce, as discussions continue amid the ongoing conflict.
