President of the United States, Donald Trump, has indicated that the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran could come to an end soon.
Trump made the remarks during a news briefing on Monday while responding to questions from reporters about the timeline of the military operation against Iran.
When asked to clarify what he meant by saying the war could end “soon” and whether it might conclude within the week, the US president said that while it may not end immediately, he believes the conflict will be resolved in the near future.
“No, but soon,” Trump replied when pressed for a specific timeframe.
The president also warned that any renewed aggression from Iran would trigger an even stronger military response from the United States.
According to Trump, the operation has significantly weakened Iran’s military capabilities, claiming that the country no longer has an effective navy or air force.
“We could call it a tremendous success right now as we leave here, I could call it, or we could go further, and we’re going to go further,” he said.
Trump further described the current phase of the conflict as the beginning of efforts to rebuild and reshape the country following the destruction caused by the war.
The hostilities between the two countries escalated on February 28 after coordinated air strikes carried out by the United States and its ally, Israel, targeted locations inside Iran.
The strikes reportedly resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, triggering a wave of retaliatory attacks and further escalation across the region.
Since the conflict began, numerous casualties have been reported, particularly among civilians in Iran. The fighting has also caused widespread damage to infrastructure in several parts of the country.
The United States has also confirmed that some of its military personnel involved in the operation lost their lives during the conflict.
The war has heightened tensions across the Middle East and raised concerns among global leaders over the potential economic and security consequences of a prolonged confrontation.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding the situation, Trump expressed confidence that the military campaign is progressing successfully and suggested that the conflict may soon reach its conclusion.
