Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have disrupted a cross-border logistics network linked to insurgents, intercepting fuel supplies and arresting 16 suspected terrorists during coordinated operations across the North-East.

According to an operational update released by the Nigerian Army on Monday, personnel of the 3 Battalion (Mechanised), acting on credible intelligence, intercepted 19 jerrycans of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) along with two carts in Gamboru/Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State, near the Nigeria–Cameroon border. The suspects reportedly fled upon sighting the troops, abandoning the items along known smuggling routes.

In a separate operation, troops apprehended 16 suspects along the Biu–Buratai–Kamuya road in Biu Local Government Area. Although the individuals claimed affiliation with hybrid security forces, a search uncovered ammunition, magazines, materials for improvised explosive devices (IEDs), military uniforms, and several mobile phones.

The report also noted that troops recovered a motorcycle previously seized by terrorists during an ആക്രമ in neighbouring Yobe State, further indicating progress in ongoing recovery and disruption efforts.

Meanwhile, troops responding to insurgent activity in Chibok Local Government Area engaged fleeing terrorists in a brief exchange of fire, forcing them to retreat without reported casualties among the troops.

The Army stated that operations under Operation Desert Sanity V remain intensified, with sustained patrols and clearance missions ongoing across Sectors 3 and 4. These efforts are aimed at restricting the movement of terrorist elements, cutting off their supply chains, and dismantling criminal networks operating within the region.

Military authorities noted that the continued offensive reflects a broader strategy to degrade insurgent capabilities, enhance security, and restore stability across the North-East.
