The Nigerian Army has intensified operations across the South-South and South-East regions, resulting in multiple arrests and significant seizures as part of its ongoing efforts to combat economic sabotage and criminal activities. Operational reports released to the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday highlight the successes of the recent security interventions.
In Rivers State, troops under Operation Delta Safe intercepted a wooden boat carrying approximately 75,000 litres of stolen crude oil in Bonny Local Government Area. The seizure is part of ongoing efforts to curb crude theft, which has been a persistent threat to national revenue and security in the oil-rich region.
Meanwhile, in Bayelsa State, a joint operation involving the Army and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) led to the arrest of 28 suspects during coordinated raids across Yenagoa. Authorities also recovered significant quantities of illicit drugs during the exercise, reflecting a strengthened commitment to tackling drug-related crimes and maintaining public safety.
In Ebonyi State, troops operating under Operation UDO KA foiled an attempted sabotage of critical infrastructure at a construction site in Afikpo. One suspect was apprehended at the scene, which subsequently led to the arrest of three accomplices. Security forces recovered cables, batteries, and various cutting tools used in the attempted vandalism, preventing potential disruption to essential services and safeguarding public property.
The Army described these operations as part of a broader strategy to protect national assets, strengthen economic security, and support law enforcement agencies in maintaining law and order. Officials emphasized that coordinated efforts across states and sectors are critical to deterring criminal networks and ensuring the safety of communities in the affected regions.
The Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to upholding national security and warned criminal elements that operations targeting theft, sabotage, and illicit activities would continue with increased vigilance. Authorities urged citizens to cooperate with security forces and report suspicious activities to prevent the escalation of criminal acts.
