Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested two individuals suspected of acting as informants for terrorist groups in Damboa Local Government Area.
The arrests were disclosed on Tuesday via a post on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama. The suspects, identified as Musa Alhaji Isah, 28, and Akona Alhaji, 30, were apprehended by troops of the 25 Brigade during a routine early morning operation on March 23.
According to reports, the suspects were intercepted around 5:30 a.m. in an area referred to as “Serial 7,” an outer zone leading to the Timbuktu Triangle, which has been identified as a known hideout for terrorist activities. Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects may have been gathering intelligence for insurgents operating in the region.
Items recovered from the suspects included two bicycles, a mobile phone, three daggers, a torchlight, a wristwatch, charms, and a cash sum of ₦6,900. The items are currently in military custody as part of ongoing investigations.
The arrested individuals have been handed over to military intelligence for further questioning, as security operations continue to secure the area and prevent potential terrorist attacks.
The operation underscores ongoing efforts by the Nigerian military to curb insurgent activities in Borno State, where terrorist groups have been known to exploit remote zones for planning and coordinating attacks. Troops remain vigilant in tracking and apprehending suspected collaborators, reinforcing the government’s commitment to maintaining security and stability in the region.
