Senator Sunday Karimi has vowed that trillions of naira allegedly diverted from local government allocations over the years will be recovered. He made the declaration while addressing concerns over financial mismanagement and lack of development at the grassroots level.

Karimi stated that investigations have revealed widespread diversion of funds meant for local councils through illegal deductions and administrative manipulation. He described the situation as a major obstacle to rural development and service delivery.

According to the senator legislative mechanisms are being strengthened to track allocations and enforce accountability. He said collaboration with anti corruption agencies will ensure that those responsible are held accountable.

Karimi emphasized that recovering the funds is essential to reviving local infrastructure including schools healthcare centers and rural roads. He noted that many communities suffer deprivation despite substantial allocations over time.

The lawmaker urged Nigerians to support reforms aimed at financial transparency and decentralization. He stressed that local governments must be empowered and protected from exploitation.

The commitment has sparked renewed debate about fiscal federalism and the need to insulate grassroots funds from political interference.
