President Bola Tinubu has approved the posting of three ambassador designates to France, the United States, and the United Kingdom. The announcement was made by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Ambassador Ayodele Oke has been appointed to France, Colonel Lateef Are will serve in the United States, and Ambassador Amin Dalhatu, former Nigerian envoy to South Korea, has been posted as high commissioner designate to the United Kingdom.

Onanuga said the approvals have been communicated to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which has been instructed to notify the respective governments according to established diplomatic procedures. The postings are drawn from a list of nominees previously screened and confirmed by the National Assembly in December 2025.

The Senate confirmed 67 ambassadorial nominees, including three non-career diplomats, Are, Dalhatu, and Oke, and 64 others. Among those confirmed were former ministers, presidential aides, and state governors, including Abdulrahman Dambazau, Ita Enang, Reno Omokri, Mahmood Yakubu, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, and Okezie Ikpeazu.

Earlier, Onanuga had named former Kebbi State governor Usman Isa Dakingari Suleiman as ambassador designate to Turkey ahead of Tinubu’s planned visit, but later clarified that the posting was still under review due to a naming mix-up.

These appointments reflect ongoing efforts by the Tinubu administration to fill key diplomatic positions and strengthen Nigeria’s foreign relations in major global capitals.
