Tinubu nominates replacements as NMDPRA, NUPRC heads resign

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted the resignations of Engineer Farouk Ahmed as Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority.
He has also accepted the resignation of Gbenga Komolafe as Chief Executive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission.
Both officials were appointed in 2021 by former President Muhammadu Buhari following the implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act.
President Tinubu has forwarded the names of their replacements to the Senate for confirmation.
The nominees are Oritsemeyiwa Amanorisewo Eyesan as Chief Executive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission.
Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed has been nominated as Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority.
The presidency urged the Senate to act swiftly to ensure regulatory stability in the petroleum sector.
Farouk Ahmed’s resignation followed sustained public scrutiny and allegations raised by industrialist Aliko Dangote.
Gbenga Komolafe’s exit comes amid wider restructuring of the oil and gas regulatory landscape by the Tinubu administration.
