President Bola Tinubu has appointed Professor Shu’aibu Aliyu as the Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), replacing Ahmed Galadima Aminu, who resigned to contest the 2027 Adamawa State governorship election.

The President also renewed the appointment of Engineer Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) for a second and final term. Both appointments take effect immediately.

Professor Aliyu, a distinguished academic and experienced administrator, brings extensive expertise in research, education, and institutional leadership. His appointment signals the federal government’s focus on strengthening key petroleum institutions and advancing human capital development within Nigeria’s energy sector.

In a statement, the presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, emphasized that the President expects Professor Aliyu to leverage his experience to reposition PTDF for greater impact. This includes fostering innovation, improving strategic support for the oil and gas sector, and enhancing capacity development programs in line with national priorities.

Engineer Abdulaziz’s reappointment followed a thorough assessment of his leadership performance at TCN. Under his stewardship, the transmission company has recorded improvements in grid stability, transmission capacity expansion, and system modernization, strengthening its critical role in the nation’s electricity sector.

With over three decades of experience in the power industry, Engineer Abdulaziz has also contributed to regional electricity integration through his leadership in the West African Power Pool (WAPP). His renewed tenure underscores the government’s confidence in his ability to sustain and enhance progress within the national power network.

President Tinubu urged both appointees to execute their duties with integrity, diligence, and a strong sense of national service, aligning with the goals of the Renewed Hope Agenda. Their appointments are part of broader efforts to ensure institutional stability, strengthen governance, and advance Nigeria’s energy and power sectors through capable leadership.
