The Imo State Police Command has dismissed three serving officers over their alleged involvement in armed robbery, kidnapping, and car snatching within the state.
The affected officers have been identified as Sergeant Ekwueme Gift, Sergeant Eto Ikechukwu, and Corporal Divine Ogwuaru. According to the police authorities, the officers were found culpable following an orderly room trial conducted in line with established disciplinary procedures of the Nigeria Police Force.
Police sources disclosed that the trial found the officers guilty of multiple offences, including armed robbery, kidnapping, car snatching, and impersonation. Their actions were described as a serious violation of the ethics, professionalism, and core values of the police institution.
The Command stated that the dismissal reflects its zero-tolerance stance against criminality, misconduct, and abuse of office by personnel entrusted with enforcing the law. It stressed that no officer, regardless of rank, would be shielded from disciplinary measures if found wanting.
The Imo State Police Command further reassured residents of its commitment to maintaining law and order, urging members of the public to continue to support the police with credible information to aid crime prevention and ensure public safety across the state.
