Former Ankaragücü defender and ex-Super Lig referee Erman Toroğlu has criticised Fenerbahçe’s attacking trio, claiming that their combined contributions pale in comparison to Victor Osimhen’s influence at Galatasaray.
The 77-year-old football analyst shared his views after Fenerbahçe drew 1–1 away at Başakşehir in Week 15 of the Trendyol Süper Lig. Toroğlu specifically pointed to Youssef En-Nesyri, Kerem Aktürkoğlu, and Jhon Durán, asserting that none of them could match the impact of Osimhen. “En-Nesyri, Kerem, and Jhon Durán… the three of them together don’t equal one Osimhen!” he said on Ekol TV, as reported by GZT.
Fenerbahçe had initially taken the lead through Milan Skriniar’s 64th-minute header, only for Bertuğ Yıldırım to level for the hosts. The draw allowed Galatasaray to extend their lead at the top of the table to three points.
Toroğlu’s remarks followed closely after Osimhen’s standout performance for Galatasaray, in which he scored twice, including a spectacular 92nd-minute bicycle kick, securing a 3–2 victory over Samsunspor. The late goal has already been considered a strong candidate for Goal of the Season.
Despite minor injury concerns, Osimhen has now scored five goals in 10 league matches, alongside six goals in three Champions League appearances. In contrast, Fenerbahçe’s attacking trio has struggled: Aktürkoğlu has one league goal, Durán two, and En-Nesyri seven.
Toroğlu also suggested that Galatasaray’s management has underachieved relative to the squad and financial investment. “With this squad and the money spent, neither Galatasaray nor Okan Buruk has succeeded. The fact that Galatasaray are only three points ahead of Fenerbahçe highlights a shortfall; the gap should be at least six points,” he added.
Analyst Haluk Yürekli also praised Osimhen’s decisive late goal, noting its potential impact on the league title race. “Victor Osimhen is a massive investment. The goal he scored in the final minute was remarkable. Goals like that can define a championship. If Galatasaray wins the league, Osimhen’s last-minute strike will be pivotal,” Yürekli said via the 343 Digital YouTube channel.
Osimhen had earlier opened the scoring to give Galatasaray a 2–0 advantage after linking well with Leroy Sané. Despite a spirited Samsunspor comeback, the Nigerian forward’s stoppage-time heroics ensured all three points and a confidence boost ahead of Galatasaray’s upcoming Champions League clash with Monaco.
